  1. Usually when making a menu there is a text safe area, an image safe area and a thirs outer area....

So say I have a pic that I want to be seen on any dvd player, and not cropped so i can only see the image or text area what do i do?

Should i make a new background image thats black and then put the image i had ontop of it but smaller so there is a blackborder but it looks find in the text area?

Are there dvd players or something that can see past that?
Is there a way to make the pic scale to fit the text area or whole screen of a tv no matter what?

I use Maestro for authoring if that makes a dif thanks!

I don't use maestro so I can't answer on that app. I do use DVD-Lab and it lets you resize the image quite easily.

I would sudgest, that if your app does'nt let you resize, the add black to make the image about 15% larger on all sides equally.

Overscan is not a function of your DVD player, it is a function of your television set. Some TVs overscan more than others, so there is no "correct" amount of border to leave.

The "title safe area" represents the inner area that all (or nearly all) TVs will display. This is generally taken to be 5% on each side. The "action safe area" represents the inner area outside of which no (or almost no) TVs will display. This is generally taken to be 2.5% on each side.

I recommend that you re-size your background image to the size of the title safe area, and then create a patterned border that complements your background and extend that to the edge of the display. That way, you will not see any ugly blackness on TVs that show more image, but your background will be fully in view on TVs that show less image.

I think after a rude comment like that, you should
definitely take yourself elsewhere, but not Doom9

TMPGenc DVD Author and DVDlab will display the safe area.
    They both have demos.

My 2 cents or 2p - take your pick- :c)

DVDWorkshop also shows "safe" area. It allows you to change the %. Default is 10%.
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1
