  1. I've been given an old Miro DC20 cature card that was never used by the previous owner in the first place. All accompanying software, drivers and documentation seems to have gotten lost. Can anyone telle me if I need any special drivers and or other software for this board (I'm running W2K), and where is the best place to get it?

  2. It under their legacy boards.

    Here is the link:

Be carefful. Had problem with a friends on win98 getting it to stay up. Try to give it its own IRQ.

It may be possible to use the NT drivers but they dont support that board any more. And there are no drives specific for W2k or XP.

It was a good board for its time.

Yes, and is past time, you should probably shoot your friend in the foot the next time you see them. I have the cable tuner and capture VLB version of this, got it for $100 WITH a composite color camera when just the cameras were $150ish, from Onsale. Anyone remember them?

While I got it to work OK under Win98 after playing with the drivers for quite a while, I think you'll be much happier to get the much newer $40 card from CompUSA, look in the capture card reviews and you'll find it most are happy with it. Or get an ATI AIW card. I got the 8500 DV, and came with the RF remote and an amazing number of cables for $129 on sale. Takes some playing with the record settings etc, but you'll be about ten times happier in the long run, I consider it the best single computer item purchase I've ever made. There are better capture cards for much more, but the bang for the buck is superb..

  4. Also agree. Yes I run a DC10+ card but they are supporting it compared to the DC20 card you have.

When that card was released it was in a very small group of card that could capture video. There are so many choices today that are supported for both W2k and XP.

You may want to try but realize it is no longer supported and you can mess up your system.

Good luck on which ever way you go!

  5. Thanks NightWing and Alan69 for your insights and tips. Being a trifle hesitating to throw away something that was given to me without even trying it at least once, I think I'll give it a try using the link NightWing provided. Maybe after that I'll have to revert to shooting my friend in the foot anyway, and purchasing an AIW (I've had it on my wish list for some time now, but being an absolute newbie in video editing, I thought it might be a good idea to try it out first 'for free'). We'll see, I don't mind a little tinkering with settings etc.
Thank you all for your help!
