Let's say that one had access to some older machines (PIII 800 128 megs RAM) running Linux. Let's further postulate that you are interested in putting at least three machines into a configuration to do video editing and rendering of the final product.

What software tools would you suggest? Is the performance of the three machines working together going to be worth the effort?
