What is your weapon of choice?
    Standalone or PC based Burner?

For standalone there is proberly a LP function (decreases bitrate).
For PC based burner reencode at a lower bitrate.

Goto tools and find the bitrate calc.

For the record it is 4.38 'usuable' GB. 120 minute DVD WTF is that??

  3. What can i say..
I'm a newbie in this area..

I burn with a pc burner. And used the dvd2dvd and TMPGEnc software.. thought it calculated the bitrate so u only needed to tell what media u burned on ??

  4. Ok, first off DVDR is a digital medium. It's not like analog. There is no min or max timelimit on a filesize limit. If you file is less than 4.3Gb you can put it on a single DVDR.

File size is controled by two (and only two) variables. Bitrate and source runtime. The size of your source, the resolution of your source, the resolution of the encoded MPEG, etc. Have ZERO effect on file size. Think about it:

    3000kbit/s x 10 sec video = 30,000 kbit file

What the bitrate calculators do is tell you that for runtime X the max bitrate you can use to get a file that's 4.3GB (minus overhead) is.

Now, the lower the bitrate the lower the quality of your encode. The lower the resolution the lower the quality of your encode. With this in mind most people don't like to encode at full D1 (720x480) with bitrates belows 4000kbit/s, 1/2 D1 (352x480) at bitrates below 2000, or 352x240 at bitrates below 1000. But these are personal choices. You can get 10hrs+ on a DVD or as little as 60min depending on the bitrate you use.

So in answer to your question, yes you can get 130min of video on a single DVDR
