  1. I'm having problems, like others I've read. But I haven't seen a solution that works.

    Software used:
    VirtualDub
    TMPGEnc (for Divx to mpeg)
    VCDEasy
    Nero

My problem is this: Mpegs play perfectly on my pc, but once burned, they skip in my dvd player. I've tried burning these several ways, including: Nero, VCDEasy (image file created with VCDEasy then Nero to burn the image; and also using CDRDAO/Nero).

I've burned several mpegs that were just downloaded as mpegs, and they all came out fine, with no skipping on my standalone dvd player. For some reason, after using tpmgenc, virtual dub, vcdeasy etc, they won't play without skipping. I've also burned all the way down to 2x, still skips.

    Some specs on the video's:

    DivX downloaded: 640x304, bitrate 128, 23fps, data rate 72kbps
Mpeg after encoding: 352x240, 23.976fps (NTSC film), 1150kbps

My cd burner is a Philips 1200 series. DVD player is an APEX 1201 (pretty sure). Burning on Maxell CD-R 80min/700MB disks.

I've tried to include all information I can think of to help diagnose the problem. I'd almost give my firstborn child (not that any of you would want that kind of responsibility) for a solution.

  3. Any video burning gurus out there, moderators, long-time forum posters that can help with this? I've provided as much information as I could. I hope it's enough to get a response.

    Thanks.

  4. I've been having the same sort of problems, and my solution was to go back to an old version of TMPGe. It seems that about the 2.59 version it started making crappy VCD's. I found an older version using a file sharing app, since the official site doesn't seem to have the old versions.

  5. As I stated in my post, the video encoded with TMPGEnc was perfect. It's only the playback of the video in my standalone that skips.

  6. Guys/Gals, if there's anyone that can help me solve this problem, I'd appreciate it. When I was looking for a forum to post in about this problem, I had a few friends that told me, "You can't go wrong asking for help at dvdrhelp.com". They said there had never been a question they've asked that didn't get answered.

I'm starting to wonder whether that still rings true or not. I know some forums start out with everyone 'on fire' to help, then fizzle out. I really hope this one doesn't. I've never seen more information about a concentrated subject as this.

I just need someone who knows what they're doing to help me with this.

    Thanks so much once again.
