    Baldrick,

Perhaps I'm getting too creative today, but your posting in the Programming forum made a click to me.

How about identifying forums with TLAs (Three Letter Abreviations)? This way, looking at the list of recent postings would help identify postings by interest - instead of having to go to the individual forum.

It is possible to mark the posting so that it identifies the forum, but it's a lot of effort and not easy to follow.

I suppose it should be possible to implement this on the forum engine. If so, then some suggested TLAs for forums:

    NEW: Latest News
    NBE: Newbie / General Discussions
    SVA: (S)VCD Authoring
    DVA: DVD Authoring
    CAP: Capturing
    AUD: Audio
    NBC: Newbie Conversion
    ADV: Advanced Conversion
    DVC: DVD To (S)VCD
    DDR: DVD to DVDR
    EDT: Editing, Cutting and Joining
    SPL: Software Playing
    LNX: Linux Video Forum
MAC: MAC Video Forum (I think this forum already generates a TLA)
    MED: Media
    PRG: Programming
    HDW: Hardware DVD Writers
    REC: DVD Recorders
    HPL: Hardware Players
    UGD: User Guides
    GLO: Glossary
    COM: Computers
    OFF: Off Topic
    FDB: Feedback
    TST: Test
POL: Polls - although this could also state TGP for TPO 8)
    ...
    [/b]
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

Cool idea, but I'd ignore them.
In fact, I've got enough abbreviations as it is.

That's what I was thinking. Maybe for a few key forums but not for everyone of them. Things like news and important site announcements. But for general use I would ignore them.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?
