Several times recently when capturing I have experienced a strange problem.
If I use Vegas Video or Premier and select CAPTURE (where it starts the digital camera up and captures) everything looks fine. Until it is done. Then when I see what was captured, it is all a mash of garbage. No indication of this on the preview though.
If I do the same process, start the tape, THEN click capture, it works fine. This just started happening recently. Any thoughts ? By the way, Has happened like this on 3 different digital camcorders so its not the cam...

You know, you raise an interesting point. When this first happened, I thought it was a new JVC cam I was testing. I happened to switch cables and the problem corrected itself. But I still started the cam first.
Now, this is the first time it has happened with a sony (different cable) and I wonder, are these things sensitive to twisting, etc ? I use them ALOT 12 to 24 tapes transferred per week.
If that is the case though, why did it fail twice when I tested by autostart but worked fine when I manually start ? Hmmmmm......???? I hope this doesn't turn into another mystery problem like I have with premier (the capture runs the tape but at some point the picture and sound stops moving ..can be anywhere) -
Well, DVIO wont do it. The other two work. DVIO will work. What was not working was where the camera is STOPPED and you hit just the capture button. In Vegas and Premier you can do this, it toggles the camera on and THEN captures. What you see capturing looks awesome which means the signal is getting there okay. But yet, when you go to use it , it was HOSED like as if someone mangled the tape.
Do the same process but start the camera for 2 seconds first and preview looks perfect and result looks perfect. The more I think about this the more I am sure it cannot be the cable. If it was, why is the picture as it captures perfect ?
Ugg.....I confess < I confess, I have a horrendous strange bug problem...LOL
Bad or damaged MS DV codec ? Sound like....Hmmm.
By the way, DVIO does not have a CAPTURE button that turns on the camera correct ? -
True. But if you do a system restore it will rule out the system software, right?
Hello. -
True..and I might just do that BUT it is such a PAIN ! Not the restore, but the move to get all the MS patches back on. I load SP 1 then after that , only the vulnerablity patches. You can keep the new VM and such as las time I did them, they just about CHOKED my machine. Sigh.
