  1. Hi I am trying to encode dv to vcd using TMPGEnc and the VCD template.

After encoding though the audio on the mpeg is very distorted and kind of in slow motion.

The original source is fine when played back on computer after transfering to pc.

What could be causing this? How can it be fixed?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Why did you post this in 2 different forums?
Try to separate audio and video (with VDub) before the encoding with tmpgenc.
Let tmpgenc just encode the video.
Encode the audio with besweet to mp2 and remux audio and video with tmpgenc mpeg-tools.Should work.

  3. When I try to open the file in Virtual dub i get the following error message "Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'dvsd' (unknown). Vitrual Dub requires a video for windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable."

    What does this mean?

For VDub you need a DV codec like the one from MainConcept/Panasonic/Sony or Adaptec.Search the forum or the web to locate this DV codec.dvsd is the infamous MS DV codec.Did you use Win XP for "capturing" from DV?

That seems to be one of the problems: using the standard DV capturing within XP doesnb't provide the proper DV codec.Use the Software, which came with your FW card or your DV device (if it's an external DV Bridge or similar device). You need in any case a DV codec, which is compatible with VDub (and other Video SW)
