    To Baldrick:

I've noticed over the past few months that a small - ok, very small - but increasing number of forum members are doing some sort of programming work related with encoding, decoding, parsing, conversions, small utilities, etc.

How about creating a specific forum where people interested not on how to use tools but how to create them can post questions, suggestions and build collaboration?

That might attract some of the more "advanced" DVDRHelp members that also do programming.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

  2. I second that motion!!

I've always been a bit weary of asking programming questions here, but it would be good to be able to.

Apart from anything else, I'd like to get some decent GUI's going for a few commandline apps etc..

    cheers,
    mcdruid.

Everything about programming for Digital Video and multimedia applications (e.g. using Delphi/JAVA/VB etc.. to write programmes for digital video capturing/editing/encoding/playback etc..) But NO questions about using existing software please.

I think it would be the right place, but to discuss how to build them or specify their operation.

I think that there should be quite a few programmers around visiting DVDRhelp. We might also be working on similar projects. We could, perhaps, exchange code or ideas or algorithms.

Also, there are some simple tasks for utilities (e.g. remove all GOPs from an MPEG video stream. Or, Add Sequence headers and GOP Headers to MPEG2 video streams. For such simple tasks, no utilities exist and when people as how to do this the unfortunate response is Reencode .

Is it alright to discuss anything other than programming for video. Can't it be programming in general? And what about HTML?

There is a "add sequence headers" utility. I'll find it.

    It is somewhat plain, however.
Are you sure you dont' want to fill it with billions of little
    warlike bipeds ?
