  1. Help wanted.

Trying to burn an iMovie using iDVD. Hangs after about 2 hours at the 'Multiplex/Burn' phase with 2 minutes to go indicated (the progress bar however indicates under 50 percent complete).

The iMovie is 53 mins 38 secs duration with project size of 4.23GB. A five minute snip of the same movie burns OK with the same graphics files imported into the iDVD project.

    I'm running 10.2.6 on a G4 Powerbook 256KB. iMovie 3.0.3, iDVD 3.0.1.

I have 6.46 GB available on my HD. Maybe not enough...?

    Grateful for your thoughts.

have you tried to let the system complete its task?

I used to get upset for the same reason. Then i realized that the system always seems to get hung up halfway through, and will burn a DVD if left alone.

Figure that the entire process requires over 3 minutes of processing for each minute of video. Then, let the system run for at least that long. i make many changes to my videos, and it is not unusual for my projects to run for 4 hours.

The first half usually seems to go fast, then the system seems to hang forever at the halfway mark, and last it finishes fairly fast.

  3. Well, I've given it a good 12 hours, so I'm pretty sure that it's not down to my lack of patience!

Since my original post I've tried a trick trawled from another forum...

Exported the whole movie back to the camcorder then reimported into iMovie and then into iDVD...same problem as before.

I've also managed to burn another movie successfully which was also of similar file size to the one with the problem.

Beginning to think there must be some 'rogue' clip in the movie. Is this possible I wonder?

exporting to camcorder and back has solved many problems for me under previous releases of Imovie and Idvd.

Imovie3.0.3, and IDVD3 seem to have resolved many of the flaws in prior releases. Only issue i can still find is that sound is not always perfectly in sync with movie frames.

Someone more knowledgeable than I will have to advise you
