  1. I bought a Verbatim DVD-RW disc that I've reburnt say 7-10 times.
Now, when I want to erase it, Nero says that it's not a rewriteable disc, so I messed up my expensive (ok,not that expensive: $5) -RW disc.
Is there a program or tool where you can "force" an erase of the disc.
Note that I've tried both quick erase and total erase.
The last burn I did was in Ulead DVDMovieFactory 2.0 and I chose "close disc" as an option. I had done this all the previous burnings too on this disc so that might not be the problem.
    Any experiences on this matter?

Thanks alot in advance for reading this and, possibly, answering.

the only alternative is to try different burning programs - try RecordNowMax for starters as that has never let me down - Nero has numerous times which is why I never use it now ...

    Hope this helps..

I had same prob with few sony dvd-rw discs, nothing would erase them - while in the same time nero and other programs erased maxell and princo discs without any probs.
When i bought LG GMA-4020b burner it came with B's Clip software (for packet writing). I tried out its B's Erase program and it finally did erased those discs (BTW - the discs were burned as dvd-video, they were not formatted with any packet writing software etc).

Here is LINK, but I don't see there any downloadable trial version though :/

    hello all,

im having the same problem, i cannot erase my (maxell) dvd+rw using nero (because the elapse time runs over and doesnt stop) and have just tried erasing it with DVDInfoPro.

The drive says, "CD drive(X", and has a little "DVD-ROM" icon on the disc image. When i right click on the drive and go to its properties it has no free bytes, its states the disc is full.

And i cannot write over it because of the reason i mentioned, it tells me that the disc is full.....

So i would appreciate any help at all to help solve this mystery. Thanks in advance for any replies...

apologies for taking as long as i did to post a reply....

I tried right clicking on the drive and checkmarking the enable recording and then used dvdInfo to try and erase the disc and it didnt work...

So back to square one, and still have no clue, anyway, i have two dvd+rw's that i got for free and have 50 dvd+r's, and so far have never had any problems with the +r's so i'll stick to write once discs.

If anyone can find a solution i would be imensely greatful, thanks in advance for any further replies and thanks to all you that did throw ideas out there...

    have a good one everyone!

  9. I had that problem and the only way I could erase them was by using IMGBURN and doing a full erase. Nero nor TMPgenc DVDauthor would erase them but IMGBURN did.

IMGBURN is free btw. Click under tools-drive-erase disc then full.

You can also try AShampoo burning studio 5.

    Far faster than nero.

However, try doing a full-erase instead of a quick one.
