Likko KC-2100 (VCD recorder) problems

I just got a Likko KC-2100 VDR off eBay, but I can't get it to record! When I put in a disc and try to record, I get the following message:

VencMpeg did not start

I can sucessfully record the audio from any source if I select CD-DA, but I get the above message if I select VCD or SVCD. I've checked and double-checked my connections, and everything seems to be correct.

Can anyone offer me any assistance with this problem?

I would try some different media and an RW, but it may be broken. Try using timer to start recording.

I've tried two brands of CD-RW and a few brands of CD-R with no luck. This model has no timer recording.

I've still not had any luck. I'm about to give up on this recorder.

I have had good luck with my Terapin VCD recorder
