  1. hello,

i bought a few dvd's from region 2 when i had my region free dvd player (it since broke). now that i got a burner i would like to back them up and beable to play them on region 1 player. does anyone know how i can do this or which guide i should be following?

i tried it once with dvd shrink so i can get the menu's etc on the disc, and just before it starts, it asks which region setting you want. i put region free but it doesn't play in my jvd dvd player as it see's it as a pal disc and says it. when i start it up on my pc, it still reads as a pal region 2 discs and asks to change the setting.

    any help would be appreciated.
    thanks

    Rip using DVD Decrypter

What about your TV set ? Does it except both NTSC and PAL input ?

Sometimes the burner might be outputting PAL to a NTSC TV, which won't work.

I have a cyberhome DVD player and it plays both PAL and NTSC. But it is normally set for me to output to NTSC, because that is what my TV is. Fortunately, on the Cyberhome, there is a button I can press which converts the output like I have a total PAL player and outputs in PAL format for a PAL TV.

Can you get the file in a MPG or AVI format, then use something like Main Concept which will convert MPGs in DVD format from PAL to NTSC.

  4. my tv is for ntsc. i ran it through dvd2svcd useing their dvd setting. i'll just have to miss out on the dvd menu's and create my own, something i've not done before but figure its time i learn. i may try one time ripping through dvd decrypter and then going throuhg dvd shrink.

    thanks for the responses.
