I've been quite happy with my Hauppauge! WinTV TV tuner card for capturing. Paid $20 for it on eBay. The only problem I've had is that the capture software that came with it captures in old-style AVI format which has a 2GB file size limit, and the other capture software I've tried with it drops frames like crazy while the software that came with the card never drops any frames. My workaround is to capture in approximately 8 minute segments with the software that came with the card, then use AVISynth to stitch the segments together for frameserving to my favorite encoder, TMPGEnc.

you name it. I guess I'll take 100 bucks or below. I need neither TV to PC or VCR to PC capture card.
