I have used TMPGenc for ages and have recently had this problem. It gets to about 2% of encoding into MPEG-2 from an avi file (DIVX or XVID)
then my computer simply turns off. I have to unplug and plug back in the mains cable and power up again. I've tried the latest version of TMPGEnc and tried re-installing XP from scatch, even updated my BIOS and looked at power management settings. I don't know what else to do.
Any ideas anyone?
I'd appreciate any help, I really need to get this sorted.
Thanks!!

It could be a hardware problem. Encoding is very demanding on your CPU and it could be that the CPU, Ram or power supply can't take the load. Try swapping parts if you can.

I've checked for bad frames - non reported.
It does it on ANY avi file and gets to 2 or 3% before power off.
I have the 'shutdown after encode' feature disabled.
Somebody told me it could be because the PC is 'too hot' and to invest in a cooler. What do U think??
Thanks for your replys by the way.. -
If you believe that, check the Bios settings
and look for shutdown temperature limit settings.
And then go find a temperature monitor program and use
it to watch the temp while you work.
I have observed a 6 degree C rise just while encoding on a
