  1. Hi
As my subject says, how can i make menus like in dvd in svcd or vcd. oh i can convert dvd menus to svcd or vcd so i can enjoy interactive motion menu in vcd or svcd. but how to make that actual menu ( A window on the right which has a short preview of thr movie and then on the bottom or left there is options like play chapters or song menu) this is typical example of a high tech motion menu's. this just what i want to creat and then use it in svcd or vcd. i know only number can be used while selecting a finction or anyother menu.

Just create the menu's anyway you can. Gather still and motion sources representative of your movie and just lay them out. photo editing can be done in photoshop, paintshop pro, or even in microsoft Paint if that's all you have. You can do simple video overlays in Virtual Dub using the logo filter, and you can do much more with Adobe after effects or premiere. For a totally free and very powerful, yet difficult method, you can use avisynth.

Or if you have a DVD source, its very easy to just take the original menu's and reauthor them on VCD or SVCD.

Yes you are limited to #'s for motion menu's, but for stills you can actually simulate actual hotspot buttons by using the next and previous keys like arrow keys, and then using the enter button to select the highlighted item.

For idea's on obtaining the menu's from the DVD, editing the menu's, and reauthoring them onto (S)VCD, my guide might be of some help.

As for creating your own menu's, you are going to have to find a program with the capabilities you are looking for, and you are just going to have to learn how to use it.

    quick note -

two freeware products I know of that can do overlays, compositing & non-linear editing of video:

    Zwei-Stein, available HERE, and
Aist MovieXone. MovieXone used to be freeware, it's been discontinued, but if you dig through Google for it, you can find the old freeware version on freeware sites around the web.

Looks like you'll be able to do it with Nero Vision once they fix the bugs. See other Nero Vision threads on this forum for more.
I said I'll be done in a minute. I meant a Microsoft minute.
