  1. I captured a video in Mpeg2 Good Quality using WinFast PVR. But Nero is saying that isn't in SVCD yet. So i went to tempgenc and tried to use the wizard but it keeps saying error cant read file type...

So then i tried MPEG TOOLS and it loaded in that. Then i made it into MPEG-2 Super VideoCD (VBR)

    what should i do?

    Thx

  2. if its in SVCD specs, burn it, try VCDEasy.

  3. I guess its not in Svcd, since nero5 keeps telling me its needs to be rencoded, but i dont have the plugin for nero.

But i'll see what VCDEasy says.

Whatever you do, don't let Nero re-encode it! It's a crappy encoder and you'll only lose quality.

    Did you capture at 480 x 480 MPEG2 2500 bps 44100 mp2 audio ?

If not get TMPGenc and use the wizard to re-encode it to those specs

then get vcdeasy to make an image

    then burn it

or get Daemon tools , mount it as a new disk and COPY it

even Nero can do a CD copy

  10. Yeah i see the problem, but how do i fix it?

    tempgec still not working...

  11. you can use DVD2AVI to frameserve the mpeg to tmpgenc. In theory you can get TMPGEnc to read MPEG-2s but I've yet to see it work. If you want you can demux the audio from the mpeg you have now, that way you dont have to reencode it.

Hmm I recently upgraded TMPGEnc to the latest version, and now mine is reading MPEG-2s just fine(I just tried it out). If you cant get TMPGEnc to open it directly, use DVD2AVI to frameserve it.

  12. OK, but how do i frameserve it in DVD2AVI

i cant realy size it to much, if thats what you want me to do.

Ok then, use VCDEasy to burn it as is then, when its asks if you want to add the mpeg, hit yes, and burn it. Maybe if you are lucky your DVD player will play it(my money is on it not working), otherwise you have to resize it to 480x480 or what might be best, recapture it at 480x480.

  14. Yeah i guess im going to have to recapture...

Funny thing is tho that when i load it with DVD2AVI it does show a realy odd looking screen size. But when i open it with WMP9 it looks like the normal SVCD size.

  15. Its not the resize from 320->480 that will distort your picture much, its that you would be re-encoding MPEG2->MPEG2 (something you want to avoid) This is why I never capture in MPEG.

  16. Ok well now i did a little TV-out trick and recorded it onto a VHS. So now im going to capture that VHS in a uncompressed AVI. "i know i will lose some quailty this way,but i realy have no other choice"

Ok but now my WinFast PVR has alot of sizes to record from. What one should i use?

    160x120
    320x240
    352x240
    252x288
    640x480
    720x480
    720x576
    320x480

    Which one do you recomend?

THX SO MUCH BY THE WAY

  17. If you are going to capture as an avi, use the huffyuv codec. Some capturing software VirtualDub is what I use, will let you enter custome capture sizes, hunt alittle and see if yours has that option. If not you could try VirtualDub out, or iuVCR. But if you cant get 480x480, Id capture larger and scale down, so I'd go with 640x480.

  18. Ok i got VirtualDub capurting it in uncompressed avi. And it wouldn't let me add in my own size. Probly somthing with it being a WDM driver.

so its in 640x480. I'll how this file works witn tempgenc in about 18 mins or so after its done capturing.

Thx again, i didn't even know u could record in Vdub. Its so much better then this winfast thing i was using before.

I hate to see anybody go out to a tape just to change formats.

If you can open the video in Vdub or VdubMpeg
    you can Frameserve to TMPGenc.
The resize can be done either in Vdub or TMPGenc.

  20. Frameserve was suggested aways back, he didnt want to do it.

Tell him to do it anyway. Be adventurous !

  22. That file was all messed up. The only program it could load is in Vdub. I dont realy know how to Frameserve, but i tried to resize but didn't have much luck.

Anyway i know i should of taped it on a VHS again, but it was the easyest thing i could think of. "Plus i had 2 hrs last night of doing nothing, so no big deal for me."

Anyway it all works now. Its fainly on a Svcd. This will be the last time i capture in an mpeg.

THX AGAIN for all your help.
