Has anyone encountered any problems doing simultaneous encodings using TMPGEc, other than slowing the process down?

  2. No problem, you can do anything while you encode (even run another TMPGenc window) but as you said it will slow the process down. In my experience it slows it down to the point where it's faster to encode serially (use batch encode). But if you have a dual CPU system you can assign each TMPGenc project to use one CPU (although I suspect that might also end up taking more time than a dual CPU encode, not really sure).

It can be done and I used to do it when leaving the PC overnight. Of course that was before I "discovered" the batch processor built-into Tmpgenc.

One thing to note is that you need to set the priority to be low for both/all Tmpgenc windows running in parallel, otherwise one will take-up all CPU and the others will practically pause.

Also, no Tmpgenc instance must be foreground. Load calculator and make it the foreground task, just to make sure.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

  4. It is better to use batch encoding. That way if you have a system crash your encodes up to that point will be ok. If you are encoding several files simultaneously you may find that none of them have finished and you have to start over again.
