What happens when you try to burn?
    What tool(s) are you using?

  3. I used nero 6. I also used my sonic dvd. It burnt the dvd+r & dvd+rw, using sonic, without a problem. I just transfered an mpeg file that was 2gb using drag & drop and it burned the dvd-r with no problem. But for some weird reason no luck when I used nero or sonic.

Also the error i get is medium not reconized.
    Thanks

I have the same drive and firmware. I bought these at Future Shop in Canada (Best Buy). They are 2x sold under the brand name Pine. These work well for me and they were the cheapest and are available in a 5 pack cased and in a 25 spindle.

DVDInfo reports the following info on a burned disc. Ignore burner specific info but at least you will get the manufacturer ID and media code.
Although mine are Pine, they seem to be sold under different brand names just check it on the left under DVD Media.

  5. I have the same firmware (not-hacked) and I primarliy burn DVD-R with out problems.

I recommend also using DVDinfo to check you drives media capatabiltiy (+ / - ..) as well as the DVD-R media itself.
