  1. I have a few questions.... first, I am using DVDLab to make my menus as well as burning the DVD. I see that some people are making menus in DVDLab and then having NERO burn the DVD. why would someone do that?
Second, which may answer my first question, I have not had any problems with DVDLab till yesterday. I made a DVD for a friend and he could not use it on his Toshiba SD-1700 player, although it played fine on his computer. A few months ago I had to make another project/DVD for him and used Sonic DVDit and the DVD worked fine! Any ideas why one would work and the other not. I really don't want to quit using DVDLab, but I hate the idea that my DVDs might not work in some players.....
Any ideas or help with either question?

for your first question, I burn with Nero for two reasons -

    - I don't expect authoring software to burn, the same way I don't expect burning software to author, or word-processing software to edit video.

    - the burning app in DVD Lab is, unless they've fixed it in the newer beta versions, an awkward kludge (by the programmer, Oscar's, own admission). Even the maker of the software recommends you use a dedicated burning app, not DVD Lab.

as for your next question, you need to give more details - what was the source material, was there anything different other than the authoring app, did you burn with different apps or burners, etc.

I made the video with the same app as before (Sonic Video Factory), the only change was I used DVDLab to burn the DVD and before I used Sonic DVDit. I really don't like Sonic DVDit,,, can't make much of a customized menu.

Also, i didn't see where you could export your menu in DVDLab so that NERO could burn the MPG2 and the new menu!

    ???

why would you export the menu to use in Nero? are you using Nero to burn, or using it for some authoring function?

I create my project in DVD Lab, compile it in DVD Lab, and then use Nero to burn the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders that DVD Lab creates - you don't need to import menus into Nero.

  5. I have not used NERO to make a DVD before.... I used it last year to make a SVCD and I actually used NERO to make the menu.
This may be a stupid question, but when I make my project w/ my menu in DVDLab and it produces my VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders will the menu I made be produced when NERO burns the DVD?

Yes! the menu that you made in DVD Lab will be present in your Nero burned DVD.

What DVD media do you burn with and what model is your burner?

Sounds like a good combo. Let us know how everything works out.
