What's the best sw to find spywares and to block pop ups?

Hi all,

I'm looking for suggestions on what sw to use to find all the spywares in my computer and for another sw to prevent pop up ads. I use a 56K modem, if that is a consideration. I'm already using McAfee personal firewall and Norton Anti Virus. Thanks in advance.

Ad-aware for spyware and Pop-up stopper free edition for pop-ups.

I use ad-aware, pop-up ad filter, spystopper and norton antivirus.

I have 56K dial-up too, so if you use these and norton anti-virus you should be pretty well covered. I have never had any virus, even the msblaster virus, so these will serve well.

Spybot for spyware.
Adaware for spyware. I use both

Free Surfer for pop-up's
Google Toolbar will stop pop-up's also. I use both

AVG free edition for Anti-Virus. I use this one
Anti-Vir free for Anti-Virus

I agree with just about everyone. Spybot, Adaware for spyware.
But I use Avantbrowser to browse the web on my PC and it comes with popup blocking. I highly suggest it if you haven't tried it before. Its basicly IE with new features so you don't lose compatibility with things.
AVG Antivirus is awsome.

I tried spybot recently and it did something very strange things to my browser. I tried to visit certain sites and it went totally crackers. I re-ran spybot to do a recovery and its ok now but I wouldnt use it again sticking to just avg (antivirus) and zonealarm (firewall) and also a new hosts file is also very effective.
