Nero works great for me. RNM also works great for me. I've yet to make a coaster with either one. I use nero about 85% of the time and RNM 15%.

I think a lot of people are quick to blame software because the're in denial. They just can't admit that they are doing something wrong.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........

It has never failed for me. It's the only program I have ever used, but then again why should I try something else when nero always works. I've read many many times here, what works for one person doesn't always work for another. So if it works for you great if it doesn't, don't use it. BTW, I use version 5.5.10.50 and I have no reason to upgrade since my current version works perfectly fine, plus I can burn my cheap verbatim 2.4X media at 4X without any problems. Enough said, time for another drink!!

All the version of Nero worked great for me... but that was the problem FOR ME. after a while I figure out I could tweak the settings to make them more compatible with the PS2, but then I lost compatibility with my cousins DVD player. Finally I got fed up and switched to recordnow max and nwo my disc work with everything I throw them at.

Sure I used to burn using very specific settings including UDF/ISO and it worked fine for me and just about everyone else. Then it would not play on some PS2s. Then I switched to just UDF and poof! the PS2 worked, but my cousins DVD Player could no longer play it. Later I tried the DVD-Video templet in several different versions of Nero all the way up to Nero 6 yet all of them had this same problem. After that I switched to Recordnow max and since thing I've had zero issues.

I still like Nero for CD burning and such, but I'll not use it for DVD burning unless its just a data disc.

Interesting, I just tried the UDF template (not UDF/ISO!),
rewritable of course, DVDInfoPRO said it was not a DVD-Video
but it would play in my two cheapo standalone players.

Its not because of Nero, the Liteon401 firmware has a
writing strategy to write most of the 2.4xmedias at 4xspeed.
Also RecordNow MAX/DX is able to burn them at 4x

Exactly, Nero works great in ALOT of cases, but different players have different levels of tollerence for disc that do not meet the Spec perfectly.

I happen to run into some players that all had various issues, and using them Found that even though most of my Nero movies SEEMED fine, indeed something was wrong. Also of all the movies I've ever burned, the RecordNow Max is the only ones that will play every time on a my Graphite DV SE iMac.

    Who cares?

I used to use an older version 5.7 or 5.8 and had some issues with the compatibility of the DVD-R's i burnt in my Xbox, so i moved on to RNM and have never had a coaster in over a year.

What i'm saying is you use what works best for u and not what is regarded as the best application to use

  11. Nero is not the only one that produce funky UDF formats.
These are original pressed dual-layer discs:

right on!, well said that man

sadly bashers will be bashers and there's no getting away from that

if someone has issues with an app it's funny to watch them get so offensive to others who have no issues with that app and don't use the software they now use

if it worked for them in the first place and had never failed even if it did had issues, would they still cry about it the way they do?

maybe one day all the cry babies will grow out of their diapers and realise how much people are laughing at them continuously saying something 'sucks' because they have such major issues with a program

the same goes for all the DVD one click backup tools. We all know they have issues but seeing as each program works for the majority of people why cry about it all the time when someone says it works for them?. It's the same for all software isn't it, someone is never happy

If you notice whenever I get involved with flame wars on this board it's always because something works for me and not because it doesn't. If something doesn't work for me then fine, I'll either fix it or just move on but do I cry about and say it 'sucks', nah that's not me but it is for others on this forum

apologies to anyone who has felt offended by my posts from the last few days anyway but please take a look at yourself and your childish behaviour because all I see is this

    it 'sucks'

What''s spinning this thread out of control? Not some flame war pro/con Nero. I think this is a completely legitimate poll, since there are many threads where people have problems with one version or the other of Nero. I'm a little surprised to see so many think it's good stuff, but then again, Nero will (not in any version) most likely never go so bad you have to post and report that it actually does what it's supposed to...
I think everyone's allowed to say that this or that app sucks. To h*ll with those who laughs at me.
I don't have a problem with Nero when it comes to write stuff to a CD. I do have a problem with Ahead, who seems to be completely out of a quality assurance department, and only employ developers who never run the code they've written. Ahead's taken the MS model in absurdum, letting their paying customers do their testing.

    PS!
After this short intermission, please let this thread get back on topic: Does Nero work for you?[
