Problems Writing the DVD with DVD M. Factory and TMPG

Hi Again,

OK I know I've hassled out everyone on the entire site about not understanding terminology etc...but now I have a different problem I can't figure out. I can't Burn Anything !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know how to go into DVD Movie Factory 2 and add the file and adjust the settings so it fits on a DVD etc but it just won't burn the whole thing. It gets to a point where it just stops and times out or something.

PLEASE tell me what I am doing wrong. I haven't burnt one single thing yet with my 2 week old burner:

I go into DVD Movie Factory,
Add the file,
Go into "Project Settings',
Customize and
Untick "Do not Convert Mpeg Compliant Files" (or the size won't change)
Select the audio compression as MPEG and 224 for the audio bitrate
Then using the cool bitrate calculator I put the calculated bitrate into the video data rate field and leave it as "variable rate"
IT THEN MAKES IT ONLY 4.1 GIG...YAY !!!
Then I add the chapters (just one every 3 minutes using the auto thing) and then I attempt to go extract video to cut out the green three seconds at the beginning but the whole thing shuts down and says encountered an error...............ANYWAYS...
....if I don't stuff around with the extract video bit and just go "first clip as first play video" (and not select create menu cause I don't really want one).
Then I go to record to disk and start the process it starts converting the files but never gets through to the end because it comes up with some write error.....

I've downloaded all the patches and installed and reinstalled and tried fixing the file/s with DivFix and still nothing : (

So I tried using TMPG with No Luck AGAIN. I'm using CBR Mpeg I Layer II Audio (MP2) then adding the file then it comes up to 148% of the disk size. No matter what I do I can't adjust it to make it 100% or under whether auto settings are ticked or not.....

PLEASE I just can't win no matter what I do...I can't use DVD Movie Factory 2 because it either dies on me or won't convert a file. I can't use TMPG because I can't adjust the settings. I have tried my best but am about to give up...starting to wish I didn't get my burner in the first place.

If anyone knows what I'm doing wrong please please let me know. I can't burn anything. Should I get a different program or give up : (

Tell MF2 to make a VIDEO_TS folder instead of doing the burning.

Play that with a DVD player like WinDVD to check the video

burn with some other burning program. MF2 has had known problems
with burning. There is at least one update. What did you get with the burner ?

If you avoid using the wizard in TMPGenc you can probably change settings
if not Load the unlock template.
