Does anyone know how to check the actual speed your burner is burning at ? When I'm burning with nero it says that it should take say 15 minutes to burn a disk but in fact takes around 30 minutes. When the disk is complete nero then says that it was burnt at 4x.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

What are you wiriting? An image or files? Files got to be turned into an image before the burn can start, and even if you burn an image, there's some overhead for lead in and lead out and stuff.
The time measured from when you click "Burn" to when the alert comes up saying that it's finished doesn't say much about writing speed.
Some Linux apps report actual data write speed. If I tell my app to write at 4X, the actual data transfer goes up to 4.7-4.8 X
