  1. Hi all, I have some AVI files that I would like to burn onto DVD R discs and watch them on our home tv through a standard UK PAL DVD player. I have a couple of programs that should do the trick, Nero and Roxio. I know how to use TMPG Enc and Virtual dub to extract audio and video. Is this the right way of going about it???

    So far my previous attempts have left me with nothing but coasters!

    In short, what is the easiest way for a beginner to take an AVI file, convert it and burn it onto a recordable DVD disc and watch it using an ordinary PAL DVD player.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. TMPGEnc DVD Author should take your avi and give you a DVD ready to burn.
    Ejoc's CVD Page:
    DVDDecrypter -> DVD2AVI -> Vobsub -> AVISynth -> TMPGEnc -> VCDEasy

    DVD:
    DVDShrink -> RecordNow DX

    Capture:
    VirualDub -> AVISynth -> QuEnc -> ffmpeggui -> TMPGEnc DVD Author

  3. Thanks for the info Ejoc, appreciated! I downloaded a 30 day trial and read the guide on this site, another question though if you dont mind??

    I noticed on the guide the first line syas make sure that your file is an mpg dvd file. I have AVI files, do I need to convert them first? If so, what with? TMPGEnc?

    Please excuse my ignorance in this matter :P

  4. I thought DVD Author will convert it for you. If not, run it thru TMPGEnc Plus first and feed that mpeg to DVD author.
