What is the best way to save a final DVD image on your hard drive. I created a DVD but if I want to burn another DVD later should I just pop the DVD in the drive and run DVD-Backup so I can save the "video_ts" folder on my hard drive? Is there a way to generate a "video_ts" folder directly from IDVD? I worry about running DVD-Backup from a DVD-R since extraction errors are possible.

Since its dvd-r, burn one, then put it back in and just OPTION-DRAG it to your desktop, thus copying its contents back to the HD. Then justburn that.

OR, you can .toast the entire disk and then just keep burning the toast image.

since you made this, you dont need to back it up, there is no encryption.

OR you can just copy it directly if you have 2 drives, one dvd reader one burner.

Sure, that will do the same thing, or you can just construct it in Toast like you would burn it but then just save it as disk image instead.
For people who dont like to have lots of apps that do the same thing a single one would, i would just stick with toast.

but yes, that app does work.

I understand that I can pop the DVD back in and copy it's contents. I'm wondering if it's possible to export a VIDEO_TS folder directly from I-DVD.

  5. I'm fairly sure the answer is no. iDVD's authoring process is completed during the burn process, which can't begin until there's a superdrive present and a blank DVD inserted.

    correct!
It is afterall only an "i" app. very basic, elementary app, but it does do its job.
