"KONAMI AND DAVIS FILMS AGREE ON FILM PRODUCTION OF POPULAR SILENT HILL GAME

Samuel Hadida is the prolific producer who brought to the screen True Romance directed by Tony Scott and written by Quentin Tarantino, Brotherhood of the Wolf Directed by Christophe Guns, Spinder directed by David Cronengerg and other famous films. Konami will participate in the production of the film from script supervision, monsters design and sound creation to accurately recreating the universal appeal of the game. The Silent Hill horror action game will evolve from the small screen to the big screen."

Of course, that is because I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. :c)
More info about this game please. I guess the last game I ever played was Galaga.

Oh, sure :c) But you kind of have to see the game to get the eery creepiness of it all.

I'm not scared of many things - only one thing really gets me. And they do it a lot in Silent Hill games. I first saw it done in Jacob's Ladder, if you've seen that.

It's when they have people go all shaky - really fast - and it freaks me out like you would not believe.

But the Silent Hill games add extreme creepified music and SFX and a grainy look that intensives all the gore, monster appearances, etc.

Besides Jacob's Ladder, the only other film I can never watch again is the original R_ _ _. I can't even say the word without a shiver. Had to hide the Video box under the bookcase, 'cause even seeing it makes my skin crawl! :cD

So, I'd expect this new movie will be even more of the same.

okay, can you give us the next letter at least?

    my curiousity is piqued!

the only movies that freak me out to that degree are "Burnt Offerings" and "Let's Scare Jessica To Death". Although "28 Days Later" had me quite wigged in spots...

"Jacob's Ladder" had me until the last 10 minutes or so. I would have liked to see the original story get filmed... it went through several different thematic revisions during the filming, so what finally made it on screen ended up radically different than the original screenplay.

If you find the book of the screenplay, the author goes into the story behind the filmmaking, it's quite fascinating.

so give, Gees... what comes after R??

  6. I just looked up Jacob's Ladder, guess I'll have to stop at Blockbuster and rent it. Although I don't really get into horror or chop-chop type movies, I really love a good movie that messes with your head.

I agree with housepig, next letter please. :c(

Ok, for JL - it is specifically the shaky business that gets me. BUT, the story, the resolution of it all is really good, IMO, and surprising, and makes you think.

That's all I'll say so I don't spoil it for you. But promise you'll let me know what you thought, please.

    :c)

Housepig, after IA Dave sees it, I'd like to know how the original story differed, if you're willing.

I will never, ever understand the need for such violence in a game.
I've never played it but seen it played and just can't get my head around it.
Films are another matter, but games?

I can't use controllers, so I can't game! :cD But for me, watching a lot of the games is like watching a movie that you can change - to a degree. I love some, especially any with puzzly bits. I guess I am a back settee driver, of sorts. :cD

But I can't watch Silent Hill. :c* I have to go upstairs and turn the TV volume way up.

Go ahead and discuss it, I will have to wait until my wife is out of town. She really doesn't like psycho movies.

It's not really psycho or "horror" in the sense you're probably thinking of.

It does have gruesome parts, so yes, your wife probably would rather not see it. But all that makes sense, come the ending.

The gore never gets me. I spend that time trying to figure out how they did the FX. :c) And I don't mind scares that make you jump and then feel like an idiot afterwards. :cD It's other stuff that gets me.

I hope you do get a chance to see it.

  12. I like stuff like the old Hitchcock movie Vertigo. I also enjoyed K-Pax, and 'In Dreams' with Sigourny Weaver.

I'll have to pull out my copy of the book and refresh my memory, but sure, that'll be no prob.

.... but you have to give me the next letter... I'm drawing a blank with "RI"

unless it's "Ricers from Planet X", about mutants who land on earth and cause mayhem by cutomizing Japanese economy cars.... <shudder>

I love these types of games. The reason I like them is because I like to get scared once in a while and they are a way for me to channel that emotion.

Gees, one word, AWESOME. Thanks for the info! I am a huge fan of the silent hill series(the first one was the best, the second one was weak, and I have to go rent the third one) and this is great news. What makes silent hill better then other "zombie" games is that it has a decent plot and it makes sense. Also, when you play, it seems like you're in the movie. Do you know when they start shooting it and if they're doing the first one or the second one? Thanks

No, no more news, Devanshu. That info was just released today here: http://www.lunchpr.com/ There's a link on the front page.

I agree with you. Like what I was trying to explain to Will. The games are almost like watching a movie - but as it's happening - sort of. :cD Makes it even scarier - when they're done right. You get so much more immersed in it. It feels like you really are fighting for your life or saving the world (Yet again! :cD), or whatever.

Also agree - 2 thumbs down for SH2 - but 3......... OMG :cO

    Conquest10 & IA Dave,

Yep. That's the one and just that one scene makes me not able to ever watch again.

Housepig - If you have it and have not seen it - believe me when I tell you and do not watch it alone. If it does not disturb you for at least 3 days, then consult your physician immediately. Something is wrong with you and you need to get it checked out. :c|

    :cD

PS I'm talking about the original version. I have not seen the U.S. remake.

ANother thought... I just re-watched the matrix and I coiuldnt help but notice the many many similaritys between the film and the game deus ex. Was Deus Ex inspired by the film.. or was it going to be "matrix the game" but we cant get that bullet time thing working!.

I know what you mean...but I thought the Resident Evil one was fairly decent(even though it wasn't really related to the original characters).

  23. And I will probably get yelled at and flamed but I was in middle school so take it easy.........

I did not think the Mortal Kombat movies were all that bad. It was actually a really popular game at the time and you got to see all of your favorite characters.

Can't wait for SH the movie though even though I played the first one for about a day........never got into it like I did Resident Evil 1......that was the first game that made you really jump. Like the first scene where you walk into that room and the zombie is chompin on that dudes head.......then that hallway scene where the dogs jump through the window.........that will make anyone jump.

Also I gotta see the ring. Havent even seen the US version yet. But if you say the other version is better I want to see that. Where can I see this other version? Blockbuster or anything?

RE1 was definitely best scary game I've played. REmake for gc was better. And about MC, it was good in it's time....I liked it too. You should try SH again. It's stupid at first but the plot gets a lot better...especially the end(well, that depends on which path you take). The Ring was an OK movie the first time I saw it...didnt really think it was scary. It made me jump at parts the first time through but when I watched it again, I wondered why I jumped. I dont know about the other version...never seen it.

  25. Ya I should try it out again.....I guess the reason I didnt play it for long was because I had another game there and probably got distracted. Guess I will dig up my old games and consoles.....you got me interested now.

Also another game that I loved and couldnt get enough of was Twisted Metal 1. That game was so fun with friends.....and single player. I loved playing against the computer too and then at then end I would get scared seeing Darkseid coming after me.

Something intimidating about a big black semi coming after me when I am a small red Lamborghini (Crimson Fury was my fav).

I rented that game but thought it was OK. Whenever I played though, I was sweettooth(I think that was the one). But Mario Kart will kick twisted metal's *** anyday

Anyway, if you have a ps2(or 1), check out SC...if you dont mind the old graphics.

Gees, I recently saw the US remake on DVD. I think I know the one scene you're referring to. It gave me such a body shiver on DVD. I can't imagine what it was like on the big screen.

I saw it in my own darkened living room. :cO And it bothered me for days afterwards. I watched the original (subtitled) and can't imagine how any remake could top that - or even match it. But I'd be curious to know, if you ever see it, what you thought compared to the remake.
