  1. Guess this would be the right place to post it instead...

    Hi.
I've bought a standalone dvd-player that supports all sorts of format, but with some of the divX movies I get somewhat blurry image and freezing. The sound carries on as normal thou... Would it be better to try with Xvid instead? Is the quality about the same?
The divX movies are in divX3.11 I belive...

    This is the player:

Most of these new divX platers are having problems with 3.11 divX. In mine Xvid plays great. I have the Lite-On LVD-2001.

  3. Hmm...sounds interesting. How about DivX5.xx? How will this compare to the other ones?

  4. I would assume that your player uses the same sigma designs chip as the liteon lvd-2001.

Divx 3.11 codec is a "hack" so there isnt any true support.

Xvid, divx 4, divx 5 are very similar and will give very similar picture quality. All work in a liteon lvd-2001

Divx 5 has the most features, but Xvid is becomming popular.

  5. Divx 5.x and Xvid seem to be the most appropriate AVI Divx based codecs for the LVD2001. I dont have hard data to support this but this is my suspicion. My bias is the Xvid codec - its free and its quality is good. I would seriously stay away from Divx 3/;/SBC or even 4 if you want to produce playable video for the LVD2001. Watch your datarates too...
