Liteon 2001 - Burning/Playing problems

HI,

I recently bought a liteon phomaster 2001 after reading reviews and decing its just what I wanted.

So - I got a few Divx's on my Pc from internet sources and wrote them to cd-r using my new pioneer 106D - they all played great on my pc.

On my Liteon 2001 the films keep slowing and jumping and even sometimes locking up altogether. The first thing I did was upgrade to the latest firmware so thats not the problem. I can't understand after reading such great reviews that I am not getting the same results.

Now the other odd thing is if I write 4 or 5 divx files to a data DVD -R the results are worse - more locking and skipping than if I wrote to a CD-R.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Sounds like the media your using. I am having no problem like this with my memorex dvd+r media. Are you using -r media? generic brand?

HI,

The media I am using is (CD-R) is a premium disk and is datawrite black bottomed 80min cd manufactured by datasafe medium ltd - I have always found these to be very good and used to write vcd's - Svcd's that played very well in my old DVD/VCD player.

The DVD Media is Eclipse Unbranded (Similar to Mirror) (4X) DVD-R that were specifically recomended for being compatable to my pioneer 106D, however they are a cheap dvd disc.

Have you burned any of the divx 4 or 5 to cd. All of the divx 5 movies that I have, play flawlessly. I only have a few problems with my divx 3 movies.

I have now tried burning with different media and I still get the same results. I have tried Divx 4 and 5 (same results) - seems to be worse with XVID's though.

Any thoughts ?

Ok,

My LVD2001 pretty much plays anything but I have had issues with Divx avi with high data rates. You may need to re-encode the sound in certain cases. I can't be more specific because I dont have more information. Sorry.

I have one of these players. Had it for a week now. Plays dvds well svcd`s and vcds OK. ksvcd well thats a diferant mater. Al played back faultlesly on my cyberhome dvd player but the ksvcds tend to stop and the sound stops then jurky playback.
DIVX seems OK
Mp3`s play back only if they are in a folder. unfortunatly when I made my compilation disks up I just burnt all mp3`s into the disk (not in a folder) so I will have to reburn them all.

Ok, situation is I think I have been very unlucky with the 15 or so avi/divx/xvid files I have got from "internet sources" DC etc. It seems that unless the encoding is absolutley perfect then they slow down/skip etc.

I have had several files now that work 100% and playback 100% on the Liteon 2001. Problem is that ALL the files I have playback 100% on the PC but as I say only a few play perfectly on the Liteon.

SO - I have run a few through the file/frame checker on virtual dub to see if it can spot any errors in them before I burn them. It makes no difference - I can't tell what will play 100% on the Liteon and what won't.

Problem now is - how can I tell what will play 100% when I burn to cd or DVD. How can I thourghly test the files before burning (because they all play fine on my PC).

Anyone come accross this before? - or got any answers?

If I avoid DIVX3 (by transcoding to DIVX5) and check the files by using VDub-MP3Fix, I have absolutely NO problems with any DIVX files on my LVD-2001.

Unless the divx is recorded using the official divx std then it is simply incompatibilty and degrees thereof. I looked at getting one of these players, but I am going off it as the divx playback is problematical in too many cases. I Should say mp4 playback as they do mpeg4 and xvid as well.
