The fastest application to author?

I use to copy vhs to dvd, and I actually use ulead dvd moviefactory, but it requires a very very long time working with HDD to make vob first, finalize them and finally burn them.

Is there a software which can multiplex video+audio from mpv+mpa, and make chapters (and eventually a menu) ON THE FLY, without having to create vobs???

How would a program create the VOBs on a DVD without creating them? I am waiting with bated breath to here the solution to this one.

Answer - stand alone DVD recorder. Yes it still needs to make the VOBs but it creates them in real time when recording, and chapter points can be added.
