  1. I've got an mpeg1 file that is about an hour long. There are chapter marks (added by vcdeasy) at 20 mins and 40 mins. I now find that I can't edit anything past the first chapter point.

If i try to edit I keep on getting an illegal stream error.
How do I go about fixing it and/or getting rid of the chapter points which are stopping the editing.

  2. Hun?

One uses VCDEasy to create an image file to burn to CD-R. This is the last step in making a VCD/SVCD/CVD. When you create chapter points, they go in a file on the CD, but the MPEG is untouched.

    1) Why would you want to edit your MPEG after starting VCDEasy, seeing as how thats the last step?

    2) What do you mean by "I now find that I can't edit anything past the first chapter point."

Are you just having trouble adding chapters? Close VCDEasy and start over, make sure you are using VCD2.0 and PBC.

I didn't realise that. The mpeg was ripped from a vcd.

No,no. Vcdeasy is not running at this step. I am trying to edit the mpeg with just tmpgenc open.

Well, the first chapter point is at 20 mins. I want to cut the mpeg into 3 scenes. If i select the start time anywhere after the first chapter point using tmpgenc's merge and cut then I get the error I mentioned.

  4. Whats the end resulting you are going for? You have a Burned VCD that you extracted the MPEG off of. You want to cut it into three seperate mpegs, which you will then...

Does the ripped MPEG play the entire movie start to finish in WMP?

Try womble MPEGVCR to cut MPEGs.

  5. I'm helping a friend who needs edited bits from it. As I've done it before with tmpgenc, I thought it'd be a breeze

Yes, it plays fine in WMP

I'll try womble when I get back from work. Thanks

  6. Unfortunately the demo version of womble doesn't seem to permit any operation to be performed so I can't tell if it would work or not

Do you have any other ideas or program recommendations at all?

Also, i was wondering, would the way I got the mpg from thw vcd make any difference? I extracted it using vcdgear
