  1. Hi everybody!

I have some movies in divx format and i want to convert them into vcd or svcd. Can i do this with tmpgenc? I want to play the files in my hi-fi dvd player wich supports vcd and svcd. I've tried to encode divx files to vcd but when i've put them into the dvd player it said "no audio". Why?

Wich program is better for home video editing and coverting virtual dub of adobe premiere and is the adobe mpeg encoder better than the tmpgenc?

There's one more thing. Should I first decompress the divx movies before I convert them into vcd or is there no difference in the output quality?

I know that this is a lot of (perhaps stupid) questions but i hope that somebody can help me.

    thanks

p.s. I don't know if somebody asked this question before and if so, I hope you don't mind.

p.p.s. sorry for my bad english

  3. this actually has been asked (about a billion times, er*, billion and one).

Do a search for divx to vcd and that will give you a lot of information. There are a number of guides (even a section that says avi (divx) to vcd/svcd, etc.).

Here's what you'll want to do, download DVD2SVCD, use the vcd template and change the source to avi. Let it automatically convert the movie for you.

  4. Thanks I found the guides I was searching for. And sorry that I was the billionth person to ask about this !

But I have 1 more question. Is it better to decompress the divx movies before encoding into vcd or is there no difference in the quality of the output file?

    thanks once more

  5. Just use the divx avi as your source.
