  1. I want to create a backup for a data dvd that i have. The problem is that it is over 4.7 gigs (similar to the dvd-9's seen in dvd videos). Is there any way that i can copy this type of data dvd onto a standard dvd-r 4.7gig disc. Thanks

I think 4.38 is the max size of a DVD blank

I think you can over burn a little bit but then you may not be able to retrieve your data, is it wirth it?

how much more over is the data

is it already compressed can you compress it

  3. The best way is just to compress it if you can. Zip files whatever.

A DVD-RAM would fit it, but those are not very common.

Or split it into two disks. If you want a single disk, I heard that there are some very expensive dual sided DVD-R's for sale. Never saw those myself, but you would still have to flip the disk over.

  4. 8) if you can write dvd-ram these are vaailable in 9.8gb size (biggish bucks) or try to compress the file? or use some sort of compressor/file splitter to make a backup in 4.7gb chunks (probably just two)
