I just started using Goldwave and so far it's been great. I have a couple of questions though.

    1. When you "maximize volume" does this mean it gives it the maximum possible volume without distorting it? Also, does it mean if I have 2 audio files and one is low volume and the other is medium volume and I maximize both, will they both now be at the same high level of volume?

    2. I used DVD Decryptor to remove the .wav file from my DVDR because I wanted to re-do the audio with Goldwave but when I try to open the audio file in Goldwave I get back an error: "Confirm - Internal file size is incorrect. The file may be corrupt. Open anyway?" Can someone tell me what this means and what I need to do to fix it? Is it possible to extract audio from a DVDR and clean it up in Goldwave? Please tell me how since I'm probably doing something wrong.

    Thanks in advance,

  2. 1. When you maximize, you do this by hitting the "maximize" button and a box with two options will come out. The default is "New Maximum" set at 1 which would set maximum volume level to the maximum before clipping occurs. The 2nd option is "New RMS" which you could manually cinput but be careful that it won't lead you to a "clipped" sound.

If you maximize two audio files and their resulting RMS is about equal, their volume will be "more or less" equal. This not exact but more of a rule of thumb.

    2. I'll leave this one for more knowledgeable others to answer.

  3. Wot do you mean you use DVDdecrypter to remove Wav from DVD ?

Is it a DVD with a LPCM WAV soundtrack, just asking coz these are pretty rare, mostly only on Music DVD's.

I seem to remember that Goldwave couldnt open these anyway, when i last tried it just gave me noise.

    andydd,

I removed the PCM .wav file from a DVDR using DVD Decryptor not a comercially released DVD...sorry for the confusion.

Goldwave was able to open the file just fine.
