As I am not sure how you made the slide show, I can only suggest this:
Get a copy of Virtual Dub Mod (it will open *.vob files)
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/virtualdubmod/VirtualDubMod_1_5_4_1_All_inclusive.zip?download
Once opened ,goto "file" then "save image sequence" and save "frames" to a folder. Grab the photo from there.
Other options : Run the slide show "fullscreen" when the picture you want appears press [print screen key] .Open photo editor and select 'edit' , 'paste image' - or something to that effect.
caution: since it is in DVD format the picture will now be of poor quality - ie: it was resized to 720*480 most likely and is now compressed in mpeg2. 720*480 = 345600 - NOT EVEN 1/3 a megapixel - ugh
Don't expect miracles when they are processed.

1.Insert DVD in DVD-ROM
2.Open Explorer and search disk for PICTURES folder.
3.Drag-n-drop to Desktop,My Documents,etc. -
i opened the dvd but only have the vts files if i open them wmp starts and plays the slideshow.
if i grab the frames with vdub i end up with over 60GB of photos (help!!). -
Did you check the option to save the pictures to a project folder before buring?

Did you check the option to put full size copies of the pictures on the disc you burned? If so, they should be in folders that correspond to the menu names you gave the slideshow(s).
If not, I think about the best you can do is to play the disk in a PC based player like windvd or powerdvd and capture the photos as they come on screen with a mouse click (the program will save each photo to a separate .bmp file). Like the previous poster said, they will only be 704x480 resolution. -
One last method...if you want to try it...is a piece of shareware called unerase. You run it from a boot floppy (outside of the operating system - you boot from the floppy disk).
It goes through your entire hard drive looking for files that are saved but are no longer listed on the directory structure (when you delete you are changing the directory structure only).
It is possible to recover files even after they have been deleted. As long as you haven't saved a lot of information to your hard drive since the mistake (which would then overwrite the sectors on your hard drive that had the photos) you should be able to restore them with a program such as this.
There are others out there as well, although I am not aware of any titles off the top of my head.
