MyDvd 5 is out

Just downloaded this upgrade Saturday. It is actually the entire program even if they call it an upgrade. $40 for the download but the file is nearly 200M in size. It uninstalls any prior version before installing.

New features. Ability to add chapter points after capture. Transcoding of other audio ( pcm, mpeg1-layer 2 ) to AC3 ( Dolby Digital ). I tried one mpeg2-vbr video file with mpeg1-layer 2 audio. It seemed to accept the vbr format without change and transcoded the audio well.

Bad news. It cannot capture from cards but does from dv camcorders. It is said this is temporary and that they are bringing out a patch in about a month to remedy this. This was mentioned on their web site. It does have bugs. In trying to change a thumbnail for a chapter point in the "edit an existing OpenDvd disk" function, the program froze while the new thumbnail was being selected.

Downloaded the upgrade $29.00 Friday night. It will un-install Roxio EZ Creator 6. It has a few nice features. I just wish you could time the text to slide off after a few seconds. At least you can move it where you want. You still have no ability to move the thumbnails where you want. It has been a stable program although, and the added feature to put background music and at the volume level you want was a needed feature. Other than that, it's still a good product with a little more room for improvement.

i'm using mydvd 4.4 that came with my dvd cam, and it seems to have many errors in win xp. Every now and then when adding something to a scene it will just close with an error
