  1. Hi dear people!

I'm new here. Good forum. There's so much information, though I still feel kinda lost. I want to buy a DVD player but I'm a real newbie about DVD players and I'm really confused. I have some VCD's and SVCD's. Would most dvd players play these? I'm confused because, for example, I was reading specifications from a few Panasonic models and it said it will play DVD-R, VCD, CD-R etc but that were recorded with a Panasonic DVD recorder And if a dvd plays SVCD's, that means it plays VCD's too?

    Thanks for any info!

First, let me welcome you to the forum. Now when you say (S)VCDs, there are two types: Commercial and hand made. Your hand-made ones are referred to in your DVD specifications as CD-Rs. So get you DVD model number, go to the DVD players database, look up your player, and do your research. Hope this helps.
    Hello.
