Hello, Newbie here. Hope I am not too offbase by posting in this section.
If so---sorry!

I purchased a DVD burner today, but have not opened the box yet because I may have to return it if I can't rectify my problems.
Store bought DVD's and backed up video on DVD-r's work great in my tv's DVD player, and both DID work fine in my computer DVD rom drive, until 2 days ago.
Now the drive in the computer reads and plays store DVD's fine, but does not recognize the DVD-R's at all. It says there is no disc in the drive with every single DVD-R I put in the drive. I try re-installing drivers for the driver, playing with the properties, using different players-powerdvd,windvd,etc..---and no luck.

Does this osund familiar to anyone. Do I need to buy a new DVD rom drive??

What are your thoughts.

OR---Do I even need my DVD-ROM drive to burn with. Do I just do both the ripping, and burning from the DVD-RW drive???

Just wanted to know before I go aheqad and open the box.
THANKS
