    Hi,

Cannot get TMPGEnc DVD Author to accept my SVCD files which has been processed as described in https://www.videohelp.com/svcddvdr.htm

I have demuxed, processed the audio (48khz), muxed back and updated the header. But when I try to add this file to TMPGEnc DVD Author it says that:

The video GOP is too long
For a standard DVD it is necessary that the GOP fulfill the following condition:

Max 36 fields (18 frames) (NTSC format only)
Max 30 fields (15 frames) (PAL format only)

I've tried to different videos with the same result. I also tried Ulead DVD MovieFactory which accepted the second file but not the first one.

But I would like to use TMPGEnc DVD Author ... what I'm doing wrong? In fact there's a possibility to Ignore this message but will DVD-SVCD still work?

Thanks for your answers in advance!

Ive had this message my self (but with mpeg1 files), and ignored it, so far all the dvd's work in in all players I've tried (6 in total)

as they say SUCK IT AND SEE

To get round this now any encoding I do now have I fix the MAX GOP's to the standards

  3. I only started getting the gop too long message since upgrading to the latest version of tmpgenc dvd author. I'm not doing anything different than before ie using the same file sources and using the tmpgenc wizard to make my vcd compliant mpg's. I ignore the gop message and so far everything plays fine. If things start to go wrong I'll have to try and fix my files but until then.....

    Thanks for your quick response

I'll then ignore that error and let's see what happens.

By the way, there is two different guides and I would like to know which one you're using. www.doom9.org guide says that DVDPatcher should be used to patch entire file and www.dvdrhelp.com tells to use patch only to first header. In addition www.doom9.org guide includes the section where .vob file will be patched again to the original horizontal resolution after compiling.

    Which one to follow?

    Thanks again!
