I joined two svcd/mpeg2 (vbr) clips with TmpGenc.

Problem is when I played the resultant file the audio was completely off towards the end.

Is it possible to join two such files successfully or will the vbr audio always make it impossible?

    Thanks for any replies...

Keep your post count down to a minimum and it is bound to get better.

I had to think about that one.

The best solution is not to join them at all, as it's always a tricky business. Depending on what you want to do with the sorce files, there's almost always a way to work around joining the source (or change your process so that you don't end up with 2 mpgs that has to be joined).
Why do you have to join them, and why are they 2 files to begin with?

It seems like your contribution to make this site what it was (and still is, IMHO) don't qualify you to complain that loud... DS

    Hi Kooyonga,

Were the 2 mpeg2 clips encoded by TMPGEnc in the first place? I ask coz I'm sure I've read that TMPGEnc doesn't always play nicely with mpegs that it didn't encode.

With regards to the VBR, I don't think TMPGEnc plays nicely with that either - I'm not sure.

Maybe someone can confirm / deny on both counts...

You should follow teegee420's advice (both bits) as I've read many times that that tool is good with mpegs.

There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.
