  1. I would like to learn how to create my own 'Recovery Disc' which I can use to restore my system if needed. Ideally, I'd like to format/reload my C: drive, install WindowsXP and all my essential programs & patches, then at that point create some sort of backup onto a DVDR disc, but one which can be booted off of & reloaded if needed. Can someone advise a way of doing this? Thanks!

  2. I hear Nero 6 can do it too but I use Stomp BackupMyPC (with the pxEngine update you can backup to DVD media)

I've got a DVD+RW that has Ghost images of both 98se and XP Pro. It is bootable, and is setup to boot right into Norton Ghost, so I can choose wich OS I want to restore.

Norton Ghost will let you make as many images as you want. I dual-boot 98 and XP, so I have a fresh install image of 98 and XP, I also have a recent image of 98 and XP. You'll need a separate fat 32 partition on your HDD to store those images. Then use Nero to make a bootable data DVD with the images.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........

DVD should be similar assuming you motherboard BIOS has the capabilities.

Was a while ago, but i used one of his 'images' - modified it then made a bootable CD with nero.

Not sure if this helps : http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=248

I would keep it simple. Use Norton Ghost to make an image file of the C: drive and record it on a DVD.

To make a restore, you simply boot with a DOS system disk which includes Ghost and restore from the DVD drive. It's simple and fast.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.
