I've been converting divx to vcd for a while now, adding subs to them without the slightest problem.
Just one question now, does someone knows how to make the subs appear in the black part under the movie instead of them comming in the movie as they all do now.
Thx

What software, filters, settings, etc are you using. It varies from program to program (DVD2SVCD, flask, SubStation Alpha, VobSub, etc).

I load the divx with virtualdub, add the subtitle filter from acery lee, add my .ssa subtitle adn start streamservig it all to tmpgenc to encode it to mpeg.
Than fianlly I burn it with Nero into a vcd -
You have to open the SSA with substation alpha, and then change the position of all subtitles (you can select all).
Save the SSA and try.
Be careful with TV overscan and with text on more that one line! -
Since you use VirtualDub I recommend Gabest' vobsub (subtitle filter). There you can change the position, width and height of subs. I am not sure how Vdub work with the filters, but when I use vobsub with Avisynth, I place vobsub to the last line.
First crop, then resize, then addborders, last subs.
So the subs appear in the buttom border. However, you can change the position while configuring vobsub.
