  1. Guys,
I am running XP. I have a Xvid (avi) file which I like to covert to DVD format. I have extracted the audio with virtuadub then tried to use TMPGEnc to covert to a DVD format. Sounds simple enough but my compuer shuts down before finishing the task, I have tried 2 more Xvid and the same thing happens.
I have also tried to convert the file to svcd (mpg) with TMPGEnc the same thing happens the computer shuts down and restarts by itself. I know there is not a virus in my computer as I have already scan it and alsoit will work fine for weeks and only restarts when I am trying to convert a avi file to a mpg.
Has anyone come a cross this one or knows how to overcome the problem.
    Many thanks in advance

Sounds like a heat problem. Try taking the cover off your pc and run the encode again. Also there is an option in xp that lets you choose if the comp reboots or not if it encounters an error. Tell it not to reboot and you may discover what is happening via an error message.

  4. i don't mean to be rude but this isn't right place to ask this question. This part is for svcd2dvd questions only.

  5. Thanks guys for the advice, and sorry if I upset you yf2001usa. It is very difficult for me (a beginner) to decide where the correct section is. I looked around this forum for an hour read many posts before decide to post my problem. I tried everything else and I know my hardware is OK so I though I am doing something wrong with my conversation, hence using this section of the forum.
Perhaps there should be a forum for asking where the correct forum is for individual’s problem so no one can post a question by mistake and put peoples back up!
Well I for one try not to do this again!
