  1. why are some vid clips size 123mb. but when i play it, only 30 sec. i have to re-encode them.
    also have seen vid clips that have sound but looks like the first frame is stuck and shifted.
    and lastly is there some how i can get every video and audio codec?[/quote]

  2. Well, you have a few questions so lets tackle them one by one.

    file size has nothing to do with the length of the film. Different files are encoded with different amounts of compression, resolution, frames per second, and bitrate. For example, An avi in DV format takes a little over 200MB per minute of film at 720x480 30fps, but that same file encoded to mpeg with 5000kps bitrate would be 36MB a minute. In order for them to go on a video disk, they have to be within certian parameters. Thus you may have to re-encode.

    The short answer is no. The long answer is...
    differnet companies are making different codecs all the time. Most you will never see, and there are some that are licensed out and you would have to pay for. Also, even if you could have them all, it is not a good idea. Often times the codec drivers would interfere with each other and mess with your computer. The best course of action is to only install the codecs as you need them.
