  1. Hi all,

I have about 100 music video MPEGs that I want to burn on DVD(s).

Is there a converter that will batch-convert an entire directory without having to choose each file.

Every file in the directory will have the same output parameters (720x480, 29.97 FPS, 48KHz).

I tried using TMPGenc Batch process, but setting each file seperately is very time consuming.

    Any suggestions?

  2. Hey All,

A new poster set me up with a Batch List utility available here:

Thanks to The Donkey Warped for the info!

thanks for posting the info & link - this is one of those questions that comes up pretty frequently - good to know there's a tool...

in fact, we should maybe add this to the Tools list...

I have tried this prog and I haven't gotten it to work yet? I get an error as soon as I click on the create batch button....does anyone have any suggestions?
The error I get is "the batch file(and path) cannot have any spaces in it to run automatically" what does this mean...please?

  5. Sounds like one of the names in the directory structure has a space in it, like c:\path1\path2\path 3>

The program probably doesn't like the "path 3" part where there is a space between the "h" and the "3".

  7. about the "is necessary per 21 line" error...

if you open the batch file in wordpad and check your 21st line down (turn off word wrap) you will find that there is a duplicate 'item' section that should only be in there once. Read through the whole item to the next word 'item' and you will see.

Unfortunately when you fix that there will still be errors at the end of the file that you can't fix.

This is a very needed program but it just doesn't work. Even if you remove all spaces in path names and you remove any apostrophe characters (like from ScenalyzerLIVE) it still doesn't work.

Doesn't anybody have a solution to this?

I need to drop several hundred .avi files into TMPGEnc for EACH family DVD, so I can't do them all manually. My eyes bug out before I get them all set right by hand.

can you use Avisynth and join them together, then encode the joined file?

I'm with you, I'd like a batch processor that works, but in the meantime, that might do it....

  9. I find AviSynth difficult. Also, I don't want them joined together because I want to be able to preserve fastforward and rewind points at each scene change.

I actually figured out the answer to using the batch list creator although it is a real pain.

First, you can't have any spaces in filenames or folders. This was known.

Second, you can't have commas in filenames or folders.

Third, the new TMPGEnc writes out templates that are not compatible with the batch list creator. Hence the error messages. To work around, open the template you want to use in wordpad and remove the entry from line 21, starting with the wizard item, remove all the sub-items and remove the '>' character at the end. Save the template and then run the batch list creator. It should now create a file that the batch encoder can read.
