    Hi,
I have a DivX coded AVI file. I saved it again with VirtualDub and set NO compression under the audio menu. Now I tried to open that new, large avi file with TMPGEnc so I can create a new VCD ... but it won't open it saying: "... can not open, or unsupported.". Why is that ?

  2. not 100% sure what you did - but you need to extract the audio and then put the AVI and the WAV file into TMPGEnc

    follow this
    http://www.vcdhelp.com/virtualdubaudio.htm

that will get you the WAV file you need

Because TMP has problems with the compressed audio.
Use VirtualDub to decompress the audio, save .wav or .avi, as you like. If you save the avi, set video> direct stream copy and audio> full process> PCM uncompressed.
    ^^^ Thats what I did ^^^
But that didn't work ... I'll know try your link ...

Well.. with the link you gave me, I get a huge wav file .. but its the same as saving it into a huge avi file that has in it the big wav file... but still... TMP can't and open my AVI file for the video part ...

Yesterday a audio problem, today a video problem. If you get the message "... can not open, or unsupported.", you have a codec problem or can you play the divx with windows media player? If so, set Direct show multimedia file reader to higher priority (option> enviromental setting> VFAPI plugin). Hope this helps.

btw: you were right (again) and thanks I changed the priority of the "Direct show multimedia file reader" and it loaded the avi
