I'm assuming your ripping a DVD with anamorphic widescreen video and the affect (vertical stretch) happens when you've just burn the mpg to complient svcd disc.
Step1: Under the Advance tab, for source aspect ratio- choose 16:9 display.
Step2: Under the Video tab, for aspect ratio- choose 4:3 display.
Hope help, otherwise be more specific on the settings you used and the type of source material your using. -
You DVD already contains an MPEG file. Why are you re-encoding ?
DVDDecryptor will extract the audio and video streams
separately for you. You then just multiplex them together to get an MPEG2.
Vobedit will also separate things
DVD lab will too.
DVD2AVI will extract the audio and optionally convert it to a WAV -
the problem is that after using smartripper or cladDVD i already have the video stretched (even in dvd2avi), and i can't change that even in tmpgenc.

Ok dude,
Read carefully
Before you rip from smartripper, look in the 'Video-Info' box and pay attention to 'aspect-ratio'. I'm assuming you prefer 16:9. If the info does show the source file (again I'm assuming your rippng from DVD) as 16:9, then rip away.
Frame serve from DVD2AVI as usual, regardless if the source is 16:9 or 4:3, DVD2AVI will still show the clip as full frame on its prescreener.
In TMPGenc, do as I've written in my previous post, which was again assuming your using a 16:9 source and wanting to encode to mpeg2:
1. under the Video Tab, have Aspect Aatio set to 4:3 display
2. under the Advance Tab, have Source Aspect Ratio set to 16:9 display
3. after finishing your other settings, encode away, the preview screen
will show the encoded movie in 16:9 with its letterbox
I'm sorry I forgot to mention one thing, all of the settings I've mention works when your manually setting up TMPGenc, if your using the Wizard, you will always have animorphic source files stretch in your final output; as a result, your 16:9 source will look like 4:3 and vertically stretched when played back on your monitor or 4:3 tv. When you play it on a HD 16:9 tv, the aspect ratio should correct itself.
