  1. Could someone explain how I can put permanent subtitles into avi by using Gordian Knot? I read the Gordian Knot guide in Doom9, but it doesnt really say much about subtitles. I have been trying to manipulate various things to get the subtitles for some foreign movies... and have failed and wasted two days to make sense out of it. I would appreciate anyone's help on this...

  2. i never cared for the divx doom9 guides.

first you have rip the sbtitles.if you didn't install vobsub when you installed GK,install it.
start the vobsub configure(the subtitle tab in GK or start > run rundll32 vobsub.dll,Configure
open the ifo and rip the subs.
when you hit the first 'save and encode' hit the 'select vobsub files' go to where the two subtitle files and open the top one.
    then finish setting up GK.

  3. Hey, thanks a lot, zodiac. I got it down, and it is working. One more question: is there anyway I can adjust (increase) the bottom dark portion of the screen, so that I can put subtitles in there without getting them over to the picture itself? At any rate, I thank you for your reply and help.. It helped me a lot...

  4. i wasn't able to with GK.
you can change where the subtitles are,but they wouldn't show up on the preview below the borders.
maybe with vdub by it self.

GK uses Avisynth does it not ?

If so you could intercept that step and modify the script to
    resize and add borders
