  1. I am thinking about converting a DIVX file I made quite some time ago into a VCD format movie that I can play back on my DVD player.

    The divx stats are:
    File : 138 Mb (138 Mb), duration 0:14:20, type AVI, 1 audio stream(s), quality 66 %
    Video : 134 Mb, 1307 Kbps, 29.970 fps, res. 448*336 (4:3), Divx 3.11
    Audio : 4.93 Mb, 47 Kbps, 24000 Hz, 2 chan., 0x55 = MP3, Supported

While the video stats are promising, above the VCD standards so it will be easy to convert, the audio stats are troublesome. I encoded this a long time ago before I knew of VCD prequisites. The audio is far below the 224kbps 42000Hz standards that VCD requires... I could make it into a non standard VCD, but my DVD player is really spotty when it comes to XVCD. Some play perfectly, other are just trash. Any ideas?

Yep, if you have all the necessary codecs (needed to play DivX files through WMP), then you could extract the audio with TMPGEnc and fix it up with an audio editor. Another way is to use CoolEditPro2, then you could do it all with just the one program?
Not totally sure if CEPro supports DivX but? Will find out if you need!
    you say Y,
