  1. I have just ripped a DVD image using DVD decrypter, and it has given me 4 VOB files and an IFO file. The files play back fine in NVDVD and are the film I wish to rip split into 4 parts.

My assumption is that I should be able to burn these to a DVD and they should play, however, when I try to use CopytoDVD to burn the disc it looks for an IFO file named VIDEO_TS.IFO the IFO that DVD decrypter has produced is called VTS_01_0.IFO and the VOB files are called VTS_01_1,2,3 and 4 respectively.

How do I burn this onto a working DVD rip, or do I have to rip them again and change my settings in DVD Decrypter?

I would appreciate any help on what is a new subject for me, having spent 6 weeks trying to get a successful DVD burn out of my writer (bad media) I am itching to get some decent results.

    Thanks

    Yo Trev,

When i rip with DVD Decrypter I use "Mode - File" and I select all the files. I think DVD Decrypter's default is to only select the movie only files.

do it like this and you should get your VIDEO_TS.IFO file.

    hope this helps

  3. You need to create new ifos uing IfoEdit.

Have a look at the guides, it's quite simple.

Alternatively you could run the files through Dvd2one or similar and the VIDEO_TS.IFO and BUP files will be created for you.

  4. As the above poster said. Look to the left under What is DVDR for more information on the DVD file structure. Basically the VOB files are multiplex MPEG2 files. The files contain several elementary streams: m2v (video), ac3 (audio) and sometimes substitles. The IFO files list all of the chapter points, linkages, define the buttons, etc.

You only ripped the VOB/IFO files of the 'main movie'. The other VOB and IFO files contain the play first (VIDEO_TS.IFO) and extras, FBI warning, etc.

You can use IFOEdit to generate a new VIDEO_TS.IFO and VIDEO_TS.VOB files, then burn the entire VIDEO_TS folder to DVD.

  5. Thanks for the help guys!
managed to get things working fine now, and while scanning the help files stumbled across some other software to try out.

    Thanks again for speedy responses.
This is probably one of the most helpful forums I have had the pleasure to visit.

    Cheers
